Why is the product or service circular?

1. RAY & JULES has achieved a global first in being the first to eliminate fossil fuels from coffee roasting in a scalable process that nevertheless manages to preserve artisanal quality.
2. Renewable energy for storage of green beans and delivery.
3. Valorisation: the membranes of the coffee bean are used as absorbents for dry toilets. We’re investigating how coffee grounds can be collected and valorised.

Which circular strategies are applied?

• Reduce amount of virgin inputs: we roast coffee beans exclusively with solar energy, which removes fossil fuel from the process and reduces CO2 emissions in the production chain by 25%. We offer delivery with electric vehicles and reusable packaging.
• Maximise the reusability or recyclability of materials: Valorisation: the membranes of the coffee bean are used as absorbents for dry toilets. We’re investigating how coffee grounds can be collected and valorised.
