Proximus takes its decoders to task

TV decoders are an important product for Proximus and its customers.  The first TV decoders were launched in 2005, and have already been supplied to more than 2 million customers. In the context of the Green Deal Circular Procurement, Proximus was enthusiastic about developing circularity strategies for its decoders:

• Extending the lifespan of the devices
• Reducing the use of virgin and non-renewable materials
• Maximising potential reuse of the product or its components

The goals set have proved to be realistic. They are also being constantly adjusted in cooperation with suppliers, because new versions of these devices are being launched all the time. This approach can inspire similar interventions with other electronic equipment.
