Suez, a waste collection and materials management company, took a closer look at its waste containers in the context of the Green Deal Circular Procurement.
Suez uses a very wide range of containers for its waste collection services, so the first task was to conduct a thorough analysis of the inventory and supply chain. Then the company investigated where opportunities lay to bring more circularity to the procurement process of these containers.
After the inventory, purchasing manager Oliver Meyers decided to continue working on two separate categories. The first category is plastic bags, for which a broad strategy is being elaborated with a market consultation by 2021. The second category is plastic containers, for which a dialogue with the market is currently underway. Together with suppliers, we’re looking at how these products and their lifecycles can be made more circular.
