The Belgian carpet tile manufacturer modulyss has designed ecoBack, a backing solution that is especially made to be taken apart and recycled.
Why is the product or service circular?
We strive for a maximum contribution to the circular economy by keeping our materials in use for as long as possible and by eliminating the concept of waste.
Which circular strategies are applied?
- Reduce total amount of materials: minimal use of materials in design
- Reduce amount of virgin inputs: increasing amount of recycled content
- Maximise the reusability or recyclability of materials: Design for recycling
What are the benefits for purchasers?
- EcoBack consists of a polyolefin layer, which consists of at least 75% recycled material.
- The backing is 100% PVC and bitumen free.
- EcoBack is 25% lighter than other backings, but offers the same acoustic values and even better dimensional stability. The lower weight of the backing results in (up to 16%) less CO2 emissions and fuel consumption during the transport of the carpet tiles.
- Thanks to its unique composition, flexibility and lower weight, it is easier for installers to cut and install carpet tiles finished with ecoBack.
- After use, ecoBack can be recycled into a new backing solution.
