ZINQ - Belgium galvanizes over 150,000 tons of steel annually in six galvanizing plants in Belgium. For thermal galvanizing, we use the brand name duroZINQ. During thermal galvanizing, a specific zinc-iron alloy is formed, providing the steel with cathodic protection that guarantees a lifespan of decades.
On one hand, thermal galvanizing significantly extends the lifespan of the steel. Data from the EGGA (European General Galvanizers Association) and IZA (International Zinc Association) indicates that >70% of all zinc used for thermal galvanizing is still in phase-1: in use as corrosion protection for steel. Due to its quality, thermally galvanized steel can also be reused. On the other hand, we focus on the reuse of zinc as a material. The zinc and steel can be perfectly separated through the process of RE-ZINQ or dezincification. The obtained zinc can be recycled for reuse, thus remaining indefinitely in the cycle. We guarantee our customers that their products will be dezincified at the end of their use.
Thermally galvanized steel has a very long lifespan, requiring no maintenance. Galvanized steel structures are robust and easily demountable. The zinc coating remains intact even upon reuse.
